The National Weather Service has the region under an active heat advisory, escalating to an Extreme Heat Warning later this week:

• Heat Advisory in effect through Thursday evening for Northern Lycoming County and surrounding counties — heat index values up to 104°F.
• Extreme Heat Warning forecast for Wednesday through Friday across portions of central PA — heat index values up to 108–110°F, with little overnight relief.
• A second wave of advisory-level heat is projected around the July 3–4 holiday weekend.
• NWS guidance during this period: drink fluids, stay out of direct sun, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and monitor for power grid strain from peak demand.
