About the Law Library
The Lycoming County Law Library has been located in the basement of the Lycoming County Courthouse since January of 2018. Prior to moving back into the courthouse, the law library was housed and maintained by the James V. Brown Library for 12 years. In addition to our new location, the law library has expanded its resources and services in order to provide comprehensive and current information to the public. There is a staff member available during operating hours to assist with research and questions.
Library Resources
There is plenty of room to fill out court forms and kits, conduct legal research, and prepare documents. Court kits are available on our Law Library Forms page, as well as in the library. Please limit one kit per filing.
We have on public access computer for legal research, looking up general information, and viewing informational videos. See our Legal Research Collection and Helpful Links pages for additional resources

Disclaimer
“Pro se litigants” are individuals who are representing themselves in a legal proceeding.
The Lycoming County Law Library has organized materials and resources for individuals who choose to represent themselves in a legal matter. Individuals who represent themselves in court proceedings are referred to as “pro se,” which in Latin means “for self.” The information provided online and in the law library may not be appropriate for your situation. The law library does not provide legal advice and should not be substituted for legal advice. If you have legal questions, you should contact a lawyer. Pro se litigants are held to the same standards as attorneys admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Representing yourself does not exempt you from understanding and following state-wide and local rules of court.
